Publication Ethics
The Journal of Elementary School Education (JIPSD) is a scientific publication containing previously unpublished research results in the field of education. This scientific code of ethics statement represents the ethical code of conduct for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal: the management, editors, peer reviewers, and authors/writers. This scientific publication code of ethics statement is based on the Head of LIPI Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. This Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications essentially upholds three ethical values in publication:
Neutrality, namely freedom from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
Fairness, namely granting authorship rights to those entitled to be authors/writers; and
Honesty, namely freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief:
Determines the journal name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation, if necessary.
Determines the editor membership.
Define the relationship between the publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties.
Respect confidentiality for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors, and peer reviewers.
Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
Review journal policies and communicate them to authors/writers, editors, peer reviewers, and readers.
Develop a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
Publish the journal regularly.
Ensure the availability of funding for the journal's continued publication.
Build a network of collaborations and marketing.
Improve the quality of the journal.
Prepare licensing and other legal aspects.
The Editor-in-Chief's decision is final based on the submitted article.
Editor's Duties and Responsibilities
The editor provides comments on authors' manuscripts to ensure readers understand the author's intended message, through comments written in the manuscript and/or discussion facilities on the journal website.
The editor provides comments on authors' manuscripts in accordance with EYD (Enhanced Spelling) or language that conforms to the journal's standards.
Editors strive to continuously improve the quality of publications;
Editors prioritize freedom of expression objectively.
Editors submit corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
Editors ensure that authors' manuscripts do not contain racial, ethnic, religious, and intergroup relations (SARA) or anything that could harm the publisher. They also coordinate with the publisher's editor-in-chief if the manuscript is even remotely controversial.
Editors receive, review, and follow up on complaints from all parties involved in journal publishing;
Editors support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
Editors do not defend their own opinions, those of authors, or third parties, which could lead to biased decisions.
Editors encourage authors/writers to improve their manuscripts until they are suitable for publication.
Editors layout manuscripts for publication to ensure they comply with the journal's template.
Editors assist the editor-in-chief in finalizing manuscripts before printing and publication, particularly regarding language, format, and layout.
Reviewer Duties and Responsibilities
Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the scientific value and contribution of manuscripts to the development of science;
Demonstrate whether the manuscript is sufficiently clear, complete, and relevant, and whether it fits the scope of the journal;
Avoid providing personal criticism or comments; and
Maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing information contained in the manuscript to other parties.
Author Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that those included in the list of authors meet the criteria for authorship;
Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and details;
Declare the source of resources (including funding), both direct and indirect;
Explain limitations of the research;
Respond to comments made by peer reviewers and the editorial board/editor in a professional, scientific, and timely manner;
Avoid unnecessary discussions with the editor that are not related to improving the quality of the manuscript;
Certify that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere or in any language, and is not currently being submitted to another publisher.
Submit a manuscript that has been written in accordance with the author guidelines.
Website Administrator Duties and Responsibilities
The Website Administrator is the person responsible for managing the journal website. Specifically, the Admin's duties include:
Setting up the journal website;
Configuring system options and managing user accounts;
Registrating editors, reviewers, and authors;
Managing journal features;
Viewing report statistics; and
Uploading/publishing accepted papers.
